Evonne Wang, B.D.S.
Evonne’s story
Early life and career
Evonne attained her dental qualification in Dunedin, at the University of Otago, receiving a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2018. From there, she moved to Gisborne to start her career – a decision which would shape her early years and fuel her passions within the profession.
During her time in Gisborne, Evonne developed a keen interest in surgical dentistry, preventative dentistry and general dentistry. She was drawn in particular to patient education, recognising the importance of encouraging people to prioritise their oral health.
Joining Kowhai Dental
In 2022, Evonne and her partner were captivated by the beautiful landscapes of Northland and Whangārei. The timing felt right for a new adventure, and they decided to make the shift. During this transition, Evonne found her way to Kowhai Dental, attracted by the practice’s knowledgeable clinician and opportunities for professional growth.
Looking to the future, she aspires to extend beyond the walls of a dental practice, dreaming of participating in dental volunteer programmes in remote parts of the world - eager to help communities in need.
But Evonne’s life isn’t all about teeth. She’s also an avid nature enthusiast and outdoor adventurer, whose second home is the beach. She can often be found surfing or exploring the underwater world, and her love of diving even led her to obtain an open water diving certification (her deepest dive so far reached an impressive 20.4 metres).
On dry land, she pushes her limits in other ways. She completed a half marathon in Queenstown, and finds joy in hobbies like cooking, playing the drums, yoga, gardening and crochet.
