David Bennett D.M.D.
David’s story
EARLY LIFE AND CAREER
Originally from San Jose, California, David grew up in a family of educators and was the eldest of three brothers. His early years were filled with sports and outdoor adventures, highlighted by his role as captain of his high school American football team. It was his relationship with his childhood dentist that inspired his career path – David admired how his dentist took the time to know him personally, sparking his desire to build meaningful patient relationships.
David earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the LECOM School of Dental Medicine in 2019, after completing his undergraduate studies at Brigham Young University. He began his career at Hudson Family Dentistry in North Carolina, where he practiced for three years before moving to Arden Arcade Dentistry in Sacramento, California.
Joining Kowhai Dental
Drawn to the vibrant lifestyle and strong work-life balance of New Zealand, David and his family made the move to Whangārei in 2024. He was immediately impressed by the professionalism and camaraderie of the Kowhai Dental team. David is passionate about providing patient-centered care, emphasising education and preventive strategies as “the best mouth coach ever.”
Outside of work, he enjoys exploring local festivals, hiking with his wife Kristi Lynn and their four children, and learning about New Zealand culture. He’s currently trying to master rugby and fishing as part of his journey to becoming a true Kiwi.
