Minda Gray, D.D.S
Minda’s story
Early life and career
Minda was adopted from Seoul, South Korea, at just 18 months old and raised in the USA, as well as Libya, London and Holland. From a young age, her own experience with dental issues – including stainless steel crowns without sedation at age 3 – sparked her interest in dentistry.
She began working as a dental hygienist in various US states including Texas, Rhode Island and Virginia, spending 20 years in this role. Eventually she was encouraged by her teammates to pursue the dream of becoming a dentist herself, and she went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 2016.
Joining Kowhai Dental
Later, Minda decided it was time for a new adventure, finding her way to Whangārei and joining the Kowhai Dental team – drawn to its collaborative, supportive environment. She is excited to use this new opportunity to explore ways to give back to the local community through donated dental services, while continuously improving her general and cosmetic dentistry expertise. And, of course, learning about Kiwi culture!
When she’s not at the practice, you can find Minda running, hiking, reading or spending time with her husband and their two adult children. She also enjoys gardening, trying new beers and wines, and cooking with her family.
