Our dental crowns are state-of-the-art. When your teeth are perfectly healthy you have a natural crown. That’s the part of the tooth that covers the root. If you have an accident and chip any of your teeth, you might need a cemented restoration.

These are generally called dental crowns. Here’s an overview of the procedure that we use. Remember, everything that we do is designed to keep your smile beautiful for a lifetime.

The dental crown process

We have a step-by-step process for dental crowns that we have developed over the years. Our system is designed to give you the best results possible. It starts with what we call crown preparation.

Sometimes a tooth that needs to be repaired must be shaved to allow for the crown to be placed. After an initial consultation, we will be able to decide if there is enough original tooth left for the crown to adhere to.

Several things to consider

There are several things that we’ll need to consider, including the spot where the edge of the crown meets the surface of your original tooth. It’s important to make sure that this is smooth and there are no bumps or ledges here.

If all this sounds a little confusing, don’t worry. We have the experience and background to make sure that any dental crowns are professionally fitted and comfortable.

Dental crowns

There are several ways that we determine whether or not you will need dental crowns. One of the methods we use is by looking at the cusps of your teeth. These are the indentations in your molars that are used for chewing. When they’ve been broken or otherwise damaged, it’s a good idea to have a crown placed to fix the problem.

People ask us a variety of questions about this dental procedure. Some of them want to know the real definition of what’s called partial crown or onlay. This is the type of crown that only covers part of the tooth. It’s used when we’ve decided to preserve as much of your original enamel as possible.

Temporary crowns

One of the other things that people want to know about is temporary crowns. Because we want to make sure everything we do is excellent, we use a dental lab. Sometimes there’s a small lag between sending in your order to one of these labs and getting dental crowns back. That’s when we use a temporary crown.
